Another year is slowing drawing to a close with another waiting in the wings. 2019 has had its fair share of ups and downs but I think there have been more ups rather than downs. The only problem I have now is where to begin!

Firstly I want to extent my sincere thanks to my clients for placing their trust in me. It has been an honour to research your backgrounds and I hope you now have something you can cherish forever. Nothing has been more satisfying than the work I do for others. I cannot choose a particular highlight but getting a family line back to 1670 was a standout moment – I was on cloud nine for days!

I’m always reading about the various genealogical related projects that are ongoing or have recently been completed. It is a credit to the staff and volunteers who dedicate many hours of their time; without these people we might not have any material for researching family trees. Projects are also there to educate or create awareness and I want to give a mention to the Hidden Branches. It is an amazing website started by Emily, Tyler and Daniel to get more young people involved in genealogy research. They are a credit to the genealogy community and I wish them every success. I’ve always been an advocate of getting more young people involved in genealogy research and this has given me food for thought.

A final mention should go to a place very close to my heart. For two years now I’ve been doing volunteer work at The Tower Museum and it has been an absolute joy spending my time there whether it was assigning collection numbers or correcting errors on the cemetery database (7,104 records and counting!). I cannot thank you enough for allowing me through the door!

As for my own discoveries this past year, well it’s been the same as it always has been; I’ve found more cousins, answered more questions and of course found myself some new brick walls to solve. I had the privilege of meeting my Maryland cousins in the summer and it is most certainly true that memories are the best gift of all. It was an honour to show them around and I do believe I have made friends for life!

I have no idea as to what the future holds, considering I spend so time in the past how can I!?, I only hope that you will continue to follow my adventures! I want to give one more mention to Paul because without him Oracle Genealogy wouldn't be here!

Have a very Merry Christmas Everyone! I wish you a happy and healthy 2020! :-D
